Application of Artificial Intelligence-Based Teaching Media in Thematic Lessons to Enhance Students’ Literacy Numeracy Skills
This study investigates the impact of artificial intelligence (AI)-based teaching media on the literacy and numeracy skills of elementary school students in Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The study employs a design-based research approach and involves 60 fifth-grade students who were divided into an experimental group using AI-supported instruction and a control group using traditional methods. The results show that the experimental group exhibited significant improvements in both literacy and numeracy, with higher gains observed in fluent reading, vocabulary comprehension, number operations, and pattern recognition. These improvements were attributed to the adaptive nature of the AI tools, which provided personalized learning experiences and real-time feedback. The findings suggest that AI can enhance educational outcomes by addressing individual learning needs and improving student engagement. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on AI in education, particularly in under-resourced settings, and highlights the need for further research into the long-term impact and broader applicability of AI-based teaching media in diverse educational contexts.
