The prediction of fatigue failure analysis in simulation of UIC60 specimens of light rail transit with following ASTM E466-15 standard
The main objective in this paper is to determine the fatigue life of light rail transit in urban network through bulk specimens. It has involve regards the fatigue failure analysis in simulation to estimate the fatigue life of UIC60 rail profile as steel with using specimen of bulk in accordance standard of ASTM E466-15. The type of tensile strength machine was performed below 250 kN in order to identify the value of ultimate tensile strength (UTS). It have based on stress levels of 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70% and 80% in considering normal temperature room of 37.5°C as below values on UTS. The simulation of fatigue failure analysis was successfully generated in IPS Nastran 2023. The results on total fatigue life cycles for UIC60 obtained from simulation. Therefore, the S.N curve was plotted to demonstrates the two regimes of high cycles fatigue and low cycles fatigue and endurance limit. This paper high important to provide data for future research in estimating fatigue on rails of light rail transit for vibration fatigue. It has no data provides in current literature and no publication yet about S-N (stress vs. cycles) databases for UIC60.
