Scaled-Down Physical Model of Ogee Dam for The Validating Simulation Works

Chenderoh is a parliamentary election area located in Perak, Malaysia. The construction of the Chenderoh Dam with an ogee design is prioritized to meet the community's need for raw water supply. One of the vital components of a dam is the spillway structure. Therefore, the building needs to be tested for hydraulic physical model tests. The physical hydraulic model is important to verify the veracity of numerical models. It must be built to have flow conditions similar to those in the prototype, and it must show geometric, kinematic, and dynamic resemblance to the prototype. The methods in this

The Zero Product Probability of Ring of Matrices Based on Euler’s Phi-Function

In the field of algebra, the application of probability theory in ring theory has been widely studied by various researchers. In this paper, a type of probability in finite rings, namely the zero product probability is determined for some ring of matrices with a single nonzero entry. To obtain the zero product probability, the exact order of the annihilator of a ring R needs to be first determined. The annihilator of R is defined as the set of pairs of elements, where the product of elements in each pair is the zero element of R. The general formula for the exact order is established using t

Integration of AI and Mechanism Design: Training Model for Assisting Learning Programming for Dynamic Analysis

(1) AI-assisted learning has become a hot topic in academia and industry. Thanks to AI's formidable analytical prowess, students' learning journeys no longer depend on a single teaching methodology. There are also some educational efforts integrating artificial intelligence concepts into teaching. (2) This study establishes a training method for ChatGPT. This method aids mechanical engineering students in learning the programming code for mechanism dynamic design, even without solid programming capabilities. The research discusses the significant challenges mechanical engineering students prev

Data-driven Bayesian SVR adaptive modeling and expensive constrained multi-objective surrogate-based optimization

The Bayesian support vector regression (BSVR) metamodel is widely used in various engineering fields to analyze the uncertainty arising from uncertain parameters. However, the accuracy of the BSVR metamodel based on the traditional one-shot sampling method fails to meet the requirements of the uncertainty analysis of complex systems. To this end, an error-pursing adaptive uncertainty analysis method based on the BSVR metamodel is presented by combining a new adaptive sampling scheme. This new sampling scheme was improved by a new error-pursuing active learning function that is named, herein

Expression and inference of uncertain information

We present a novel approach for training deep neural networks in a Bayesian way. Compared to other Bayesian deep learning formulations, our approach allows for quantifying the uncertainty in model parameters while only adding very few additional parameters to be optimized. The proposed approach uses variational inference to approximate the intractable a posteriori distribution on basis of a normal prior. By representing the a posteriori uncertainty of the network parameters per network layer and depending on the estimated parameter expectation values, only very few additional parameters nee
